about

Keystone Ska Exchange is a vision from the mind of Zack Herbst, bassist, who hand-picked each of its members; all of which have a deep love for Ska music but also come from different musical backgrounds. Al Meck is never without a guitar in his hands, or so it would seem. Al is a prominent and respect blues guitarist whose soulful chops bring make for some savory solos. Alex Boyce is the other guitarist in KSX that brings a classic feel to their music. Even though Alex comes from a blues/jazz/rock background, he found ska as a teenager in the 90's when third-wave bands such as Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish were becoming popular. Dean Stroop has sang and tap-danced on broadway and has toured the United States and Europe with stage performances such as "Crazy for You." Dean put aside his tap shoes to learn the drums just to skank with his fellow rude boys. After production of "Have a Good TIme", Nick Worrell joined the band to bring some sax to the mix and make us an honest SKA band. In 2015, Dean passed away and KSX vowed to keep going forward with his spirit in our hearts. Brett Schneider now sits on the thrown, keeping Dean's beats alive and adding his own flair and style.
