Genre: Punk Ska Metal
Bio: Chilled Monkey Brains is a multiple piece rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. The play a fast and heavy fusion of punk rock, power metal, and ska. Since 2009, they have played hundreds of shows across the U.S. and have toured with national acts such as Less Than Jake, The Toasters, Mephiskapheles, Ryan Eldred of Catch22, and The Queers. They've shared the stage with Authority Zero, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Flatliners, Mustard Plug, Pour Habit, The Slackers, and Strung Out just to name a few. The band has also played a number of festivals including Community Records Block Party (NOLA), Less than Jake's Wake and Bake Weekend (Gainesville), Mass Ska Raid (ATL), and Space Coast Nerd Fest (Melbourne).
In 2009 the CMB recorded a five song demo E.P. titled "Origins". The album was recorded by friend Yamil Velez, singer/guitarist of the band Lipona. They then used the demo to enter and win the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands landing them a spot on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour. Shortly after, the band was introduced to Russ Castillo. Castillo was an engineer on Pink Floyd's "The Wall", and with his help, Chilled Monkey Brains released a full-length self-titled album in 2010. In 2012, the band added a second guitar that essentially furthered their metal sound. CMB looked to Rob McGregor at Goldentone Studio (Against Me!, Hot Water Music) in Gainesville, FL to overlook and produce a 4 song E.P. called "We're All in This Together". One year later the band launched a successful Kickstarter campaign and looked to long time friend, Lee Dyess at Earthsound Recording (Against Me!, MayDay Parade, I Set My Friends on Fire). With the help Lee's expertise and fine tuning, the band released it's second full length album, 'APEocalypse' in 2014 with new vocalist and guitarist Zac Hall, replacing long time vocalist RJ L'Heurex."
