No Kings is a surf-rock/ska/dub group based out of San Diego, originally formed by Joel Brust and Garrison Cyr. After leaving their first band Subliminal Trip in 2011, Joel and Garrison continued writing music together. They soon enlisted friends Rafa Scatolin and Matt Cook, and have been writing and recording music together ever since. No Kings plays a sonic fusion derived from the rhythms of first and second-wave ska and reggae, the guitar sounds of psychedelic and surf-rock, interspersed with the frenetic energy of punk. Southern California has many musical tastes and No Kings blends the flavorful culture into a sound all can enjoy
